The following individuals have been elected to serve on the Board of Governors for the Coalition. The purpose of the Board of Governors is to provide guidance, insight and direction for the current and future goals to be undertaken. The Coalition is proud to have this unique and diverse group of people involved.
Barbara M. Bates-Jensen, RN, PhD
Dr. Bates-Jensen is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Department of Medicine, and Division of Geriatrics. Dr. Bates-Jensen is a frequent contributor to the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society as well as several other clinical journals. She is the creator of the Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool. In addition, Dr. Bates-Jensen works with the Veterans Administration Greater Los Angeles Healthcare Center – Geriatric, Research, Education, and Clinical Center.
Laura Bolton, PhD
Dr. Bolton is an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Surgery, Bioengineering Section of the New Jersey University of Medicine and Dentistry. She led the team of researchers and developers who developed the DuoDERM CGF family of dressings for ConvaTec. In addition to a prolific author of clinical articles, Dr. Bolton is a member of the Editorial Boards of Ostomy/Wound management, Advances in Skin and Wound Care and WOUNDS publications. Dr. Bolton is the Chief Scientific Advisor for Derma Sciences.
Jean De Leon, MD
Dr. De Leon is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is currently the Medical Director for the Baylor Specialty Hospital, Baylor University, Dallas, Texas. Dr. De Leon is well published and a contributing
Member of the National Quality Forum Steering Committee on Prevention and Management of Pressure Ulcers
John M. Macdonald, MD
Dr. Macdonald is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He currently is on the faculty of the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery. Dr. Macdonald is a Past President of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care.
Karen Lou Kennedy-Evans, RN, CS, FNP
Ms. Kennedy-Evans is the President of KL Kennedy, LLC, a consultation firm specializing in skin and wound care management for Home Health, Long Term Care, Industry and Private Practice. Ms. Kennedy-Evans researched, identified and subsequently named the Kennedy Terminal Ulcer.
